Kapua Foundation

About Us

WHO WE ARE:
The Kapua Foundation was founded in memory of Frederick Kapua who lost his battle with cancer in 2015. Fred was born in Turangi, New Zealand and of the Ngati Tuwharetoe tribe.
His parents were John and Mary Kapua and he had 8 siblings: Sheryl, John, Stanley, Dawn, Cynthia, Joe, Monty & Stewart.

He was as gentle and humble as they come – a true man for others. He often said “you value a person by what they give, not what they have” and lived by that motto opening his house to strangers, taking in orphaned animals and valuing his childrens happiness over everything. The Kapua Foundation is seeking scholarship applicants who live by the same values and morals as Fred did.

He is survived by his 5 children: Fred, Lis, Kyla, Cat and X and 16 grandchilden: Christian, Caleb, Case, Nat, Marley, Lockie, Parker, Harper, Brokie, Harvey, Mary Jean, Stacy, Natsuki, Oliver, Eli and Audrey.
